The Trust continues to carry out Sir Peter’s environmental work and keep his spirit and values alive.
As a Foundation Partner of the Sir Peter Blake Trust, Westpac has become actively involved in the Trust’s Care for our Coasts programme. Through the programme we contribute to the conservation of one of New Zealand’s greatest natural assets: our seas and coastlines.
As part of our relationship with the Sir Peter Blake Trust, we have also committed to develop leadership within the bank and around New Zealand.
Red Socks Day
National Red Socks Day is held during New Zealand Leadership Week to celebrate leadership in action and to remember a great New Zealand leader, Sir Peter Blake.
Sir Peter Blake liked to wear his red socks for good luck, and during the America’s Cup Challenge of 1995, New Zealanders supported the boat by putting on their own red socks
In 2010, we got behind Red Socks Day through the sale of $2 Red Socks Day lapel pins through our branches. All proceeds from the sale of these items help to enable the Sir Peter Blake Trust to run its programmes.
