Things to help you when you start work
open an everyday banking account for your pay to go into  
get set up for KiwiSaver  
choose a savings account to help you save for something you might want later on  
get a DebitPlus Visa card so you can pay for things online without going into debt  
take out car and renters’ content insurance  
get a credit card with the first year annual fee and hotpoints fees waived - if you’re aged between 18 and 24 years old.

Other tips to help you manage your money
set up automatic payments to go out after pay day  
withdraw a set amount of cash per week and make it last the whole week  
spend some and save some - don’t forget to pay yourself even if you start with just small amounts
